Headquarters are created for the election of a single candidate at the presidential election

The headquarters for the procedure of ‘The Popular Vote’ (primaries) were created today. Chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (‘Hramada’) Ihar Barisau became the headquarters head.

As was previously reported, the representatives of five political structures — the United Civil Party (UCP), the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (‘Hramada’) (BSDP), the Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD), the Movement For Freedom (MFF), and the Belarusian Popular Front Party (BPF) — held their joint press conference on January 27, where they announced the start of the procedure to elect a single presidential candidate.

The headquarters will include information, organizational, analytical, and management departments. Today, February 3, is the first day when applications will be accepted from prospective candidates who wish to compete for the title of the Single Democratic Forces Candidate.

Applications will be accepted until February 16, 11:59 p.m., Minsk time. The applicants who are nominated by political parties or other political organizations shall submit the following documents: an extract from the minutes of their organization’s central authority, a statement on the intent to take part in the nomination, a signed agreement with the applicant, and money in the equivalent of €500 (at the National Bank’s exchange rate on the date of application).

The applicants who are nominated by collecting signatures shall submit the following documents: 200 signatures (those collected on paper shall contain full name, date of birth, place of registration, contact phone number or e-mail, date, and signature, while those collected online shall contain full name, date of birth, place of registration, contact phone number, and e-mail), a statement on the intent to take part in the nomination, a signed agreement with the applicant, and money in the equivalent of €500 (at the National Bank’s exchange rate on the date of application).
