“I understand he had serious threats. He has little children; it’s absolutely possible that he left the country to defend his family and himself from prosecution”, stated Milinkevich to Interfax-Zahad news agency. “Time will show what has happened actually; however, he was under greater threat than others owing to his statements about tortures in KGB”, thinks Milinkevich.
Answering to the question of whether the measure of restraint could be changed for other participants of the December 19 process who gave recognizance not to leave, Milinkevich said: “I won’t try to predict the authorities’ actions, because they don’t act in accordance with the law but in accordance with expediency.”
