Vasil Bykau ‘For Freedom of Thought’ Prize
The Vasil Bykau ‘For Freedom of Thought’ Prize was founded by the MFF leader in 2008. This idea appeared after Alaksandr Milinkevich received the Andrei Sakharov ‘For Freedom of Thought’ Prize that has been awarded by the European Parliament. The ‘For Freedom of Thought’ Prize is awarded to individuals who have proven themselves through their civic or creative activities for the benefit of Belarus and liberty. The former prize winners include men of letters Ryhor Baradulin, Uladzimir Arlou, politician and writer Paval Sieviaryniets, artist Ales Pushkin, ethnographer Ada Raychonak, politician and poet Uladzimir Niaklayeu, musician Lavon Volski, ethnographer Ales Bielakoz, musician Zmitsier Vaitsiushkievich, artist Ales Marachkin, swan and actor Viktar Shalkievich, and poet Nil Hilevich. |
